Time out for Tea (and cookies)

OK, I had to take a few hours out to bake some goodies for the annual Master Gardener's Tea. To make up for it, I'm giving you one of the recipes.

CONGO BARS!!!

These are very easy to make, very easy to eat. They also freeze well. A good holiday make-ahead. If you have people who drop by for visits, the Congo Bars come out of the freezer, a few seconds in the microwave, and you have fresh baked cookies to share with a cuppa tea!
CONGO BARS
Cream:
2/3 c. butterflavor shortening
1 lb. brown sugar
Beat in 3 eggs, one at a time, and 1 tsp vanilla.
Stir in:
2 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. nuts, chopped (I used walnuts, on sale at Freddies)
3/4 c. chocolate chips
3/4 c. butterscotch chips
Press dough into a greased 9x13 pan. NOTE: I use the Pam Baking Spray on the pan - best stuff since sliced bread)
Bake 350 degrees 25-30 min. Don't overbake.
Cool and cut into 1"x1 1/2" squares.
Try not to founder on them.
